Description
Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest is Georgia’s only National Forest. It stretches across all of northern Georgia, including most of the border with Tennessee and North Carolina. In the early days of this national forest, you might have seen a District Ranger sign like this one attached to a larger sign, or somewhere like a building or the side of a vehicle. The design takes several elements from the U.S. Forest Service logo, including the shield shape, evergreen tree, and serif letters “US”.
Our Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest District Ranger sign was made following the exact USFS standards in use around 1915–1923. We’ve taken great pains to ensure every detail would match those of a sign posted in that era. We don’t know that any original copies of this sign still exist. If they do, you could expect to pay many thousands of dollars for one on the collector’s market. Our faithful replica lets you get the sign you want at a fraction of that price.
Our Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest District Ranger sign is printed on heavy 14-gauge steel. It has a glossy, non-reflective coating , much like the porcelain that would have been used in the era the original was made it. It can withstand the the elements when installed outdoors, while also making an attractive addition to any room’s decor. We offer it in in two sizes, the 18 in. by 20 in. size of the original, and a 10.8 in. by 12 in. version, scaled down for your convenience. Two convenient mounting holes are included on both sizes.
