Description
The Southern Tier Expressway is a highway running from the city of Binghamton west to the Pennsylvania state line near Erie. It runs just north of the state line, connecting many of the cities in the region along the southern edge of New York. This highway is signed both with a standard NY 17 shield, as well as with a unique marker depicting the silhouette of a Native American with the words “Southern Tier Expy” on it. Beginning in 1999, the road has also been designated a part of Interstate 86, with Interstate signs appearing along the portions of the road that meet Interstate standards.
Our Southern Tier Expressway route marker is made to the exact state standards, as used from the opening of the highway in the 1960s onward. Using photos of original signs, we’ve painstakingly replicated the details of the Native American silhouette and the text layout. It’s the most accurate replica of this sign you’ll find on the market today!
Our Southern Tier Expressway sign is flat printed on sturdy 14-gauge steel. Its glossy, non-reflective finish makes it perfect for indoor display, but it’s durable enough to stand up to a New York winter when installed outdoors as well. We’ve also included pre-drilled mounting holes to make installation easy. Choose from one of the following sizes:
- 12 inches × 12 inches
- 16 inches × 16 inches
- 24 inches × 24 inches (the actual size of signs posted on surface highways intersecting the expressway)
- 36 inches × 36 inches (the actual size of signs on the expressway itself)
We can make signs for any of the parkways in New York—both those upstate and the ones found on Long Island—and practically any other sign ever to have been used in the Empire State and elsewhere! Is there something you’re looking for that isn’t on our site? We would be happy to help you place a custom order—just contact Jake to get started!
