Description
San Francisco’s Gonzalez Drive is a residential street in the southwestern part of the city. It is located in the Parkmerced neighborhood, following a roughly octagonal route that surrounds Juan Bautista Circle, the center of the neighborhood. Like many of the streets in Parkmerced, it is named after a member of Jaua Bautista de Anza’s expedition to Alta California in 1775 and 1776, specifically José Manuel González, one of the settlers who traveled with the party.
Our Gonzalez Drive sign is a faithful replica of those found along this San Francisco street. It’s made according to the standards the city used from 1965 to 2009 specification of San Francisco street signs. The 1965 standards introduced the familiar style seen all throughout the city, using the modern FHWA Series highway sign fonts, with lettering in all caps, in black on white. (This style was discontinued in 2009, at which time San Francisco began producing signs in mixed case to comply with new federal signage standards.) Above the street name is the block number 100, which can be found at the intersection with Cardenas Avenue.
Our Gonzalez Drive sign is flat printed on heavy 14-gauge steel. With its durable high-gloss (but non-retroreflective) finish, it can be installed either indoors or outdoors, serving you well for years to come. We offer this sign with either one-sided print (excellent for hanging against a wall), or two sided (just like the originals). Mounting holes have been drilled for easy installation. Take your pick from these three sizes:
- 21 in. × 7 in.
- 30 in. × 10 in.
- 36 in. × 12 in. (the actual size of signs posted by the city of San Francisco)
We can make a sign like this for any street and block number in San Francisco! We can also make the other styles of signage used in the city over the years. And, of course, we can make street signs for any other city in the world, too! All you have to do to place a custom order is contact Jake!
