Description
Interstate 93 is the main north-south highway through the state of New Hampshire. The highway connects New Hampshire to the Boston area, entering the state after crossing over the state line from Methuen, Massachusetts. Interstate 93 connects many of New Hampshire’s largest cities, including Manchester, Londonderry and Salem, with the state capital, Concord. North of Concord, I-93 wends its way between the lakes of central New Hampshire, then enters the White Mountains and Franconia Notch State Park. The portion of the highway through Franconia Notch only has one lane in each direction. This arrangement—unusual for an Interstate highway—is to reduce the highway’s impact on the park, which was formerly the site of the Old Man of the Mountain cliff formation, a famous symbol of New Hampshire. Northwest of Franconia, it crosses the Connecticut River into Vermont before merging into Interstate 91 toward the Québec border. Over two-thirds of Interstate 93’s length is in New Hampshire, with most of the rest in Massachusetts, and the last few miles in Vermont.
Our New Hampshire Interstate 93 sign is made according to the official 1957 standards for Interstate highways. This is the style of sign that was installed at the time of the Interstate System’s initial construction. It was used until the 1970s, when it began to be replaced with the newer style with larger numbers, with the state name often removed. Some instances of this design still exist here and there across the country, but those that make it to the collector’s market often command a premium. Save money and skip the hassle with our faithful replica.
Our New Hampshire Interstate 93 sign is printed on heavy-duty steel. It has a high-gloss finish, which is non-retroreflective, making it an ideal home decor item. It can also be installed outdoors; it’s durable enough to withstand even a winter in the White Mountains! Installation is easy due to the pre-drilled mounting holes. Choose between the following sizes:
- 12 in. × 12 in.
- 18 in. × 18 in. (a size sometimes used in the early days of the Interstate System)
- 24 in. × 24 in. (the smaller, more frequently used of the two sizes used in the modern day)
- 36 in. × 36 in. (the size used on the Interstate itself and in other high-speed contexts)
We can, of course, make these signs with any state name and route number of your choice! We also make U.S. and state route markers, both from New Hampshire and elsewhere. And we make a wide range of other highway signs, too! Have something in mind that you don’t see on our site? Just place a custom order—contact us today to get started!
