Nebraska Highway 2, often abbreviated to just N-2, is the longest route in Nebraska. It exists in two disconnected segments. One goes from the Missouri River near Nebraska City to the southern outskirts of Lincoln. The route picks up again in Grand Island and proceeds northwest into the Nebraska panhandle, ending at the South Dakota line northwest of Crawford.

The Nebraska state route marker has always featured a design of a Conestoga wagon, complete with pioneer man, woman, and oxen. As speeds on Nebraska highways gradually increased over the years, the route number has gradually gotten larger for increased visibility, while the wagon has gotten smaller. This general design, with a white trapezoid with the wagon at the bottom, all on a black square blank, first appeared in the early 1970s. It is Jake’s opinion that these Nebraska route markers are the best designs on the planet.

Our Nebraska Highway 2 sign is made according to the standards used along highways in the Cornhusker State since 1975 or so. Every detail of the design, including the finer details of the Conestoga wagon, as well as the relative sizes of the various sign elements and the fonts used, are all just like the originals.
