The Triangle Expressway is a freeway winding around the south and west sides of Raleigh and the east side of Durham, North Carolina. The highway is named after the Research Triangle, a nickname for the region comprising Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, owing to the importance of the three cities’ research universities. While much of the Triangle Expressway is signed as parts of Highway 540, at exit 67, the expressway splits away from Highway 540, becoming Highway 885. This section of toll highway leads toward Durham, as well as westbound Interstate 40, and the free part of Highway 885, which is signed as Interstate 885.

You couldn’t use the sign that appears above the Triangle Expressway at exit 67 as a home decor item. It’s far too colossal for that—It’s over eighteen feet in each dimension!
