The Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway is a scenic route in central Oregon. It follows Deschutes National Forest route 46 south of Bend through the Cascades mountain range. The views of the mountains, as well as the many alpine lakes that dot the region, are unparalleled. Opportunities abound near the route for hiking, biking, fishing, and during the winter, skiing. In recognition of the road’s outstanding natural beauty, the Federal Highway Administration has designated it a National Scenic Byway. Only 184 roads across the country carry this distinction.
