Description

The Yellowstone Trail was one of the first transcontinental auto trails to be established in the United States. It ran from Plymouth, Massachusetts to Seattle, Washington, across the northern tier of states. The road was the brainchild of Joseph William Parmley of Ipswich, South Dakota, whose initial plan to have a 25-mile road extending from his town grew into a coast-to-coast route. From 1918 to 1930, the road was promoted by the Yellowstone Trail Association as “a good road from Plymouth Rock to Puget Sound”. When the numbered US Routes were devised in the late 1920s, the route was subsumed into the system, mostly as part of US 10.

The Yellowstone Trail was marked in a variety of ways—yellow arrows painted on buildings, yellow bands on telephone poles and trees, and sometimes actual signs. Our Yellowstone Trail sign is a recreation of one such sign. Using photos of surviving originals, we’ve painstakingly captured every detail of the original design. An authentic sign like this in good condition could easily sell for thousands on the collector’s market. Our museum-quality reproduction lets you own a piece of early automobile history at a fraction of the cost.

Our Yellowstone Trail sign is printed heavy 14-gauge steel, right here in America. It’s built to last, with a glossy, weather-resistant finish that looks great indoors or outdoors. The sign includes pre-drilled mounting holes to make installation easy.  Choose from the following sizes:

  • 12 in. × 12 in.
  • 16 in. × 16 in.
  • 24 in. × 24 in.
  • 36 in. × 36 in.

We can make just about any highway sign, from any era! Route markers, state welcome signs, warning signs, city limit signs, you name it! And we can make signs from anywhere in the world, too! Looking for something not on our website? Contact us today to place a custom order!
