Description
US Route 20 is the longest numbered highway in the United States, clocking in at 3,365 miles (5,415 km). It travels from east to west through the northern part of the country, from Boston, Massachusetts to Newport, Oregon. To commemorate the colossal length of the highway, a sign stands at each end of the highway, giving the distance to the other end. The westbound sign is in Boston near Kenmore Square, giving the distance to Newport. Meanwhile, the sign in Newport is just east of US Route 101, giving the distance to Boston.
