Description
Welcome Creek is a stream located southeast of Missoula, Montana. It is a tributary of the Clark Fork River by way of Rock Creek. It runs through Lolo National Forest, on land which was once part of Lewis & Clark National Forest. In 1978, Congress designated an approximately nine-by-seven mile area as the Welcome Creek Wilderness. No mechanical vehicles of any kind—even bicycles—are allowed in the wilderness area; the primary means of access is a trail along the creek. The land in the wilderness area is so steep, rocky, and heavily forested that even finding a place to pitch a tent can be a challenge.
Our Lewis & Clark National Forest Welcome Creek sign is an exact replica of Forest Service signage that has stood along Welcome Creek since the early 20th century. Signs of this era were hand painted on steel in green-on-white enamel, which was then fired in a kiln to harden it into a durable porcelain finish. Our sign accurately replicates the look of these historic signs. Both the block lettering used, as well as the glossy finish, are just like those you would see on USFS signage of the era. It’s as close as you can get to the original sign without hiking deep in the wilderness to see it!
Our Lewis & Clark National Forest Welcome Creek sign is flat printed on heavy 14-gauge steel, right here in the USA. It’s just as durable as the original sign, so it can hold up against the elements, even in the Montana wilderness. We offer this sign in two sizes: the 20 in. × 9 in. size of the original, as well as a scaled-down 15 in. × 6¾ in. size. Both sizes have mounting holes included to make installation simple.
We can make a sign like this with any stream and national forest name! We also offer a wide range of directional signs, mountain summit signs, welcome signs, route markers, and more. If it’s a road sign, you want it, and you don’t see it on our site, just place a custom order! Contact us today to get started!
