Our Santa Cruz city limit sign is made according to the exact Caltrans G9R standards dated December 28, 1959. This was the first style of city limit sign in California to have the now-familiar green background. Because we made it using the same standards used to make the original, every detail is pretty much just like the original! The population of 25,596 is the population according to the 1960 U.S. census, which would have been current the first time this style of sign was installed.
