U.S. Route 223 is a highway primarily in Michigan, though a small snippet of it lies across the state line in Ohio. US 223 is a diagonal route, running from the outskirts of Toledo northwest to south of Jackson, Michigan. The route was originally the southernmost bit of US 127, gaining its identity as US 223 in 1930. Today, the route serves travelers from the Toledo area with connections to highways leading to destinations throughout central and western Michigan, including Jackson, Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Grand Rapids, and vice versa.
