Michigan US Route 102 highway marker sign

Price range: $89.00 through $369.00

Description

US Route 102 was a short highway in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It began at US 2 just west of Crystal Falls and ended 44 miles (71 km) to the north, at US 41 south of L’Anse. It served only two counties, Iron and Baraga. As a result of its short length and lack of destinations along the route, US 102 did not last long as an independent highway. After being introduced with the beginning of the route system in 1926, it was folded into US 141 in November 1928.

Get your hands on a piece of highway history with our Michigan US Route 102 sign. The sign is made according to the 1926 federal US highway marker standard. Every detail of the sign is carefully reproduced according to the specs, including the outline of the shield, the classic block fonts, and the placement of the text. Because US 102 was so short and only existed for two years, the number of signs ever made for it was very low—perhaps less than a dozen copies. It’s likely all of them were unceremoniously junked when the highway was renumbered to US 141. If one somehow survived, it would undoubtedly command a premium of thousands of dollars. Avoid the perils of low supply and high demand with our expertly crafted replica.

Our Michigan US Route 102 sign is flat printed in the United States on heavy 14-gauge American steel. Its glossy, non-reflective finish brings the classic look of vintage signage to your home, garage, or office. It can also easily withstand even a harsh Upper Peninsula winter, so you can install it outdoors with confidence. For fast, simple installation, pre-drilled mounting holes are included. Choose one of these sizes:

  • 12⅜ in. × 12 in. (for those without a lot of space)
  • 16½ in. × 16 in. (the standard size when US 102 existed)
  • 24¾ in. × 24 in. (the modern standard size)
  • 36⅛ in. × 36 in. (a size used in the modern day when extra visibility is needed)
