Interstate 85 is one of the principal highways of the US state of Georgia. It cuts diagonally across the state from Alabama to South Carolina, passing through the Atlanta metro area along the way. Along with Interstate 75, it forms Atlanta’s Downtown Connector, among the widest highways in the region with twelve to fourteen lanes. A section of the highway through Gwinnett and DeKalb counties features tolled express lanes, the first such project in the state of Georgia.
