US Route 20 crosses Illinois from west to east, running from Dubuque, Iowa to the Indiana line in Chicago. It serves the northernmost tier of Illinois counties, including Winnebago County and the city of Rockford, before turning southeast as it enters Chicagoland. It serves many of Chicago’s suburbs, including Elgin, Elmhurst, and Oak Lawn. Some of the names it carries in the Chicago area are Lake Street, Mannheim Road, 95th Street, and Indianapolis Boulevard.

Our Illinois US 20 sign is made to the exact 1926 US highway sign specification. This is the style used when the US highway system was first signed, with the sign formed to the shape of the shield, and using the classic block lettering typical of that era’s signage. This style was used until 1948, when the standards changed to use the modern highway sign fonts. Original 1926-style signs do appear on the collector’s market every so often, and invariably go for many hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Our faithful replica allows you to obtain a fantastic display piece for just a fraction of the price.
