Description
Beginning in the mid-1980s or so, each road entrance to the state of Texas was marked with a simple but iconic sign. The center part of the sign contains a large drawing of Texas’s famous Lone Star flag. Above that is the phrase “Welcome to Texas”; below the flag is the slogan “Drive Friendly—The Texas Way”. This sign, with some minor changes (like changing the font and some details of the flag and flagpole), is still used to this day. It holds a special place in the hearts of Texans returning from places that are, unfortunately, not Texas.
Our recreation of the classic Welcome to Texas sign is a precise duplicate of the 1980s-style signs once found across the state. (They still exist here and there, especially in smaller versions found at state welcome centers, but the newer variants are overwhelmingly more common.) We’ve used photos of the original signs to accurately recreate even the most minute details of the sign. The fonts used (Kaufmann and FHWA Series D) are both faithful to the original 1980s design. Signs like this don’t often turn up on the collector’s market. Everything’s bigger in Texas, including the state line signs, so they’re not easily traded. Our replica lets you proudly display this piece of Texas heritage in a much more manageable size.
Our Welcome to Texas sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel. Its glossy, non-reflective coating can easily withstand the harsh winters of Amarillo, the desert sun of El Paso, or the downpours of Houston. Choose from sizes ranging from 15 in. × 10 in. up to 42 in. × 28 in. Each size includes two mounting holes for easy hanging. (Want this sign in a size not listed here? Or maybe some other sign from the great state of Texas? It’d be a real pleasure to help you out. Just give Jake a holler to get started on your custom order.)
