San Francisco King Street sign

Description

San Francisco’s King Street is a short street that runs parallel to Mission Bay and the Mission Creek Channel. The main section of King Street begins as a set of ramps coming from the end of Interstate 280, then proceeds northeast through the city. The only streets it intersects with are 5th, 4th, 3rd, and 2nd streets. Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, is located on King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets, and a statue of Willie Mays is located at the corner of King and 3rd Street. Past 2nd Street, King Street curves north to become The Embarcadero.

We’ve made our King Street sign follow the exact 1965 specification for the city’s street signs. The 1965 standards, the last to use all capital letters, were used until 2009, when they were switched to mixed case. The sign uses the standard FHWA Series road sign fonts, with black text on a white background. In a tab above the street names is the block number 200. This is the block number on the sign at King and 3rd, across the street from the Willie Mays statue.

Our King Street sign is a faithful replica, flat printed on 14-gauge steel. It has a non-reflective, glossy coating, which allows it to be posted either indoors or outdoors. We offer this design as a one-sided sign intended for mounting flush to a will, or as a two-sided sign much like the originals.  The sign includes pre-drilled mounting holes that make it easy to install it on a wall, or hanging on one end from a pole, the same way the original signs are mounted. We offer it in three different sizes:

• 21 in. × 7 in.
• 30 in. × 10 in.
• 36 in. × 12 in. (the size of the original signs posted by the city of San Francisco)
