Trans-Canada Highway 1 route marker

Description

The Trans-Canada Highway is Canada’s national highway system. It consists of one main route which spans the country from west to east, with several parallel and branch routes feeding into it. Most of the time, when someone says “the Trans-Canada highway”, they are referring to the main route, running for 7,476 km (4,645 mi) from Victoria, BC to St. Johns, NL. As a whole, the system serves all ten provinces. The Trans-Canada Highway is signed with a green sign with a white maple leaf containing the road number. Because road maintenance is more or less entirely left up to the provinces, it is up to each province how they choose to number the Trans-Canada Highway. Many of them chose to number their segments of the main route as Highway 1.

Our replica Trans-Canada highway marker bears the Highway 1 designation. It also includes the word “Highway” in the banner at the bottom, where provinces may choose to display the province name. Our marker is made to the exact 1972 standard that is still in use today. That makes it nearly indistinguishable from genuine highway department issue that would be found along the roadside.
