Description
The government of California did not make road signs for much of the early days of the automobile. Instead, private auto clubs produced and installed signage to help travelers find their way. In the northern half of the state, this was the responsibility of the California State Auto Association (CSAA). Among the many signs they posted was one in the town of Auburn, seat of Placer County. This sign directed travelers to turn right to head toward Roseville and the state capital, Sacramento.
For your enjoyment in the modern day, we’ve brought this classic CSAA directional sign back to life. Using historic photos of the original sign in the field, we’ve made a replica that to accurately follows the exact 1929 CSAA specifications. No detail of the original has been overlooked, including the exact layout, the hand-painted font, and the yellow CSAA logo at the bottom of the sign. The original sign has of course been replaced many times over, and there’s no telling where it went after that. Most likely it was destroyed long ago, melted down to become a can of beans or something like that. With our faithful replica, you can revive it in all its glory, for an excellent display piece.
Our CSAA Roseville and Sacramento directional sign is flat printed on 14-gauge steel, right here in the USA. It has a non-reflective, high-gloss finish highly reminiscent of the porcelain of the original sign. This sign is durable enough to withstand the elements for years to come when installed outdoors, while also being a handsome home decor piece when displayed indoors. (It’s perfect for a garage, bar, man cave, or game room!) We make this sign in its original size of 36 in. × 15 in. We also offer two scaled-down sizes for those on a budget of display space or finances. And we also have a massive four-foot-wide version printed on two panels, for those who really want to make a statement. No matter which size you pick, though, mounting holes have been provided to make hanging it up simple.
