Description
The Eisenhower Interstate System is one of the largest pieces of infrastructure in the United States. Made up of over 48,000 miles of highways spanning all 50 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico, the Interstate System affects every American. Even non-drivers benefit from the logistical feats it makes possible. Although a system of superhighways had been talked about for years before, it was Dwight D. Eisenhower who got it done. Eisenhower’s experiences driving from coast to coast on the country’s then-poor roads in 1919, as well as with the German Autobahn system during World War II, made him a staunch supporter of the project. In recognition of what would have been his 100th birthday, Congress officially named the Eisenhower Interstate System after him in 1990. On July 29, 1993, a special sign bearing this name was unveiled. It features five stars in a circle, the insignia of Eisenhower’s rank of General of the Army during WWII.
Our Eisenhower Interstate System sign is made according to the exact federal standards for signage posted along the nation’s many Interstates. This sign appears in every state with marked interstate routes (every one but Alaska). It is normally installed near features like interchanges between two Interstate highways, state lines, and rest areas. Show your love for the great American road trip and the freeways that make it possible with our replica of this iconic sign.
Our Eisenhower Interstate System sign is a high quality, durable sign made of American steel, right here in the USA. It is a non-reflective sign, making it excellent for indoor display. Its high-gloss finish protects it from the elements, allowing you to install it outdoors as well. Mounting holes are included to make installation easy. Choose from the following sizes:
- 12 in. × 12 in.
- 16 in. × 16 in.
- 24 in. × 24 in. (the smaller of the two sizes found on America’s highways)
- 36 in. × 36 in. (the larger of the two sizes found on America’s highways)
We can also make an Interstate shield for any route in the system, from 2 to 990! We also make state and U.S. route markers, welcome signs, directional signs, city street signs, and more. If it’s not on our website and it’s a road sign you want, talk to us! We love custom orders!
