Description
US Route 41 is the longest north-south US highway, at just over 2,000 miles long. 479 of those miles are in Florida. The highway enters the state just north of the town of Jennings and proceeds down the Gulf coast. It passes through Tampa and Naples, before cutting east across the peninsula to its southern end in Miami. This latter east-west section was originally numbered US 94, but was incorporated into US 41 in 1949. For most travelers today, US 41 has more or less been replaced by Interstate 75, which runs parallel to it throughout the state.
the 1940s, Florida began assigning colors to each US route, and made all shields of each route that color. This made it easier to navigate route junctions, because a motorist could simply follow the assigned color. The color assigned to US 41 was coral. Although signs of this specific style were only in use until 1949, the colored-sign scheme continued until 1993, when the federal government mandated that Florida change to the same black-and-white signs as the rest of the country.
Our Florida US Route 41 signs are made according to the exact federal standards that were used from 1926 to approximately 1949. We offer both the standard black-on-silver design used in the other 47, and the white-on-coral design that was only used by Florida. They both use the classic block font used on all American road signage up until the late 1940s.
Our Florida US Route 41 signs are flat-printed on heavy 14-gauge steel. They are made with a durable non-reflective coating that makes them both an excellent home decor piece, as well as protecting them from the elements when installed outdoors. They also include pre-drilled mounting holes to make installation simple. Choose one of the following sizes:
- 12⅜ in. × 12 in.
- 16½ in. × 16 in.
- 24¾ in. × 24 in.
- 37⅛ in. × 36 in.
