The city of Kansas City is split between the states of Missouri and Kansas. Kansas City, Kansas is located within that state’s Wyandotte County, taking up most of its land area. In fact, Kansas City and Wyandotte County are legally one and the same entity. The two governments merged in 1997; the resulting Unified Goverment provides all government services for both Kansas City and the portions of the county not under the authority of other city governments.

Because the city and county share boundaries for the most part, combined Kansas City–Wyandotte County boundary signs can be found along some entrances to the city. This particular example is posted near the Missouri River bridge, where Interstate 635 enters the state from Missouri. We’ve precisely recreated the original sign, scaled it down, and now offer it as an attractive piece of home decor. Our replica is based on the original 2013 blueprints for the sign, as found in Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) project number 106 K-5925-13. The text has been set using authentic Highway Gothic fonts, precisely following the original measurements used to fabricate the original sign. It is guaranteed to be as exact of a copy of the real thing as is possible without resorting to bolt cutters (which is not likely to win you many friends in the Sunflower State).
