Description
Woodward Avenue, also designated as the state route M-1, is a major street in downtown Detroit, Michigan. This road played a unique role in the development of the automobile. Many early companies in the industry were founded or located along Woodward Avenue. These companies often used Woodward Avenue for testing during the development of new cars. In recognition of the road’s historic role, the Federal Highway Administration has declared Woodward Avenue to be an All-American Road. This distinction, shared by only thirty other roads in the United States, is the highest tier in the country’s scenic byway system.
Our M-1 Woodward Avenue sign is a recreation of a sign that appeared along the road in the 1980s. It appeared with Detroit rock and roll artist Bob Seger posing underneath it in a 1980 promotional photo shoot. The original sign has long since been replaced. With our replica, you can bring one small part of this road’s storied history back to life and display it proudly in your home.
Our M-1 Woodward Avenue sign is flat printed on heavy 14-gauge steel right here in the United States. It has a non-reflective, glossy finish that makes it an ideal home decor item. However, it’s durable enough to serve for years when installed outside, even through a harsh Michigan winter. Pre-drilled mounting holes make installation easy. Take your pick from the following sizes:
- 21 in. × 7 in.
- 30 in. × 10 in.
- 45 in. × 15 in.
- 81 in. × 27 in. (printed across two panels)
