The Garden State Parkway is a toll road passing from north to south through the entire length of New Jersey. It extends from the New York state line to the southern tip of the state at Cape May. Along the way, it passes through Newark and The Oranges. Newark is the largest city in New Jersey, and one of the oldest, having been founded in the late 1600s. It is the headquarters of several major corporations, as well as the location of Newark Liberty International Airport, the first municipally-owned commercial airport in the United States, and one of the busiest due to its proximity to New York City. The Oranges are not one municipality, but rather four: Orange, East Orange, West Orange, and South Orange. The entire area was originally part of Newark. Orange was separated from Newark in 1806. The other Oranges then split off of Orange in turn.

Newark and The Oranges can be accessed from the Garden State Parkway’s Exit 145, which brings travelers to Interstate 280 and County Route 508. Our replica of the exit sign posted there is designed to follow the official 2009 standards as laid out in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. For additional accuracy, we’ve also used photos of the original sign posted in the field to make sure every detail matches.
