Description
The Wildwoods are a cluster of four towns with “Wildwood” in their name on the barrier island of Five Mile Beach, on the Atlantic coast of Cape May County, New Jersey. These towns collectively form one of the many summer vacation and resort hotspots on the Jersey Shore. In the 1930s, a large sign was erected pointing the way to “Wildwood By The Sea”. Although the sign was only up for a few years, it quickly made its way into local history. It was immortalized in a locally-famous photo of nine young women posing in front of and on top of the sign. In 2019, the City of Wildwood placed a scaled-down replica of the sign on the beach for visitors to pose for pictures with, just like the old photo with the original.
We’ve produced our own replica of the classic Wildwood By The Sea sign. It was made using photos and videos of the 1930s sign, ensuring accuracy to the original. Each letter was drawn from scratch to be a precise duplicate of those on the original. In fact, we feel our replica is more accurate than the one created by the City of Wildwood, and you’re allowed to take ours home with you. It’s the closest thing to going back to the 1930s to visit the original sign!
Our Wildwood by the Sea sign is printed on heavy, durable 14-gauge steel. Its non-reflective finish makes it a great addition to any room needing a shot of beachy charm. It can also withstand the rain and sun when displayed outdoors. Choose from one of three sizes: 17½ in. × 7 in., 27½ in. × 11 in., or 40 in. × 16 in. All three signs include two pre-drilled holes for easy hanging. (Want this sign in a size not listed here? Or perhaps a different sign, either from New Jersey or elsewhere?
