Description
The northernmost reaches of Interstate 81 cut straight through the middle of Upstate New York. The highway connects the region to Ontario, Canada to the north and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the south. In New York, I-81 serves the cities of Binghamton, Cortland, and Syracuse. The road also provides access to the Thousand Islands in the St. Lawrence River, which forms the border with Canada.
Our New York Interstate 81 route sign is made to the exact 1957 specifications for Interstate highway signs. This was style posted along the Interstates during their original construction. Compared with the modern design, these had a larger red crown, smaller digits, included the state name above the number. Show your love for Binghamton, Central New York, and the Thousand Islands with this excellent display piece!
Our New York Interstate 81 sign is made here in the United States out of heavy 14-gauge American steel. The sign has a non-retroreflective, high gloss coating, making it an attractive addition to your home’s decor. The coating will also protects it from the elements for years to come, even when installed outdoors in a snowy New York winter. For easy installation, convenient mounting holes are included. We’ve made it available in the following sizes:
- 12 in. × 12 in.
- 18 in. × 18 in.
- 24 in. × 24 in. (the smaller of the two sizes used along the Interstate)
- 36 in. × 36 in. (the larger of the two sizes used along the Interstate)
We can make a sign like this with any combination of state and route number! We also make other route markers for US and state routes. Looking for something besides a route marker, like a street name, directional, welcome, or warning sign? We can do that too!
