Description
The Maintain Top Safe Speed sign is one of the only signs in the Manual on Uniform Control Devices that has never been posted in real life. This is for good reason. It was introduced as part of a batch of Civil Defense signs in the 1961 MUTCD. It is intended to be used, as the 1971 MUTCD says, “where radiological contamination is such as to limit the permissible exposure time for occupants of vehicles passing through the area.” Since this situation has never happened in the United States, there has never been any reason to use this sign.

Our Maintain Top Safe Speed sign is flat-printed on heavy 14-gauge steel. It can be installed either indoors or outdoors, and contains mounting holes for easy installation. Select one of the following sizes:
- 9 in. × 12 in. (about 23 cm × 30 cm)
- 15 in. × 20 in. (≈38 cm × 51 cm)
- 21 in. × 28 in. (≈53 cm × 71 cm)
- 30 in. × 40 in. (≈76 cm × 102 cm)
