Wyoming has had a strong association with cowboy culture and the American West since before it was even a state. As America’s appetite for beef grew after the Civil War, raising cattle became a lucrative business. As Wyoming was a perfect place to raise cattle, a number of large ranches were established there. When the Homestead Act was signed in 1892, more ranchers poured into the state to take advantage of it. As a result, the state became home to some of the world’s most renowned rodeo events, such as “the daddy of ’em all”, the Cheyenne Frontier Days, one of the largest and oldest rodeo events in the United States. So it’s no wonder that Wyoming has always had a cowboy or two or three on its state line signs.
Our Wyoming Welcomes You sign is a replica of those posted along the state’s roads throughout the 1960s. The speed limit of 60 shown on the sign was in place until 1973, when the national speed limit of 55 was established. Not only are signs like this one nearly impossible to find scrapped, but they were also far too colossal to be used as decor. Our version of this sign is scaled down to a range of reasonable sizes, making it an excellent display piece.
Our Wyoming Welcomes You sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel. It is non reflective, and features a glossy finish that makes it durable enough to be posted outdoors as well. Mounting holes are included to make it easy to install anywhere. Choose from the following sizes:
