Description
This East Burnside Street at 32nd Avenue street sign is made in the style of those used up through about 1936 in Portland, Oregon. These “humpback” signs included both the name of the street it was facing (N.E. 32nd Avenue) and the street intersecting it (Burnside Street). Similar signs with two street names were in use in many cities at the time, most notably New York City.
Our Portland humpback street signs are exact replicas of the originals, referencing vintage photos of original signs to make sure every detail is just right. The shape of the sign, the color, and even the fine details of the font are exactly the same as the original! As far as we know, there are no signs like this circulating on the collector’s market. If they did, they would undoubtedly sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars. With our faithful replica, you can save money without having to wait around hoping an original will turn up for your favorite pair of streets.
Our East Burnside Street at 32nd Avenue street sign is printed on heavy, 14-gauge steel. Its non-reflective, high gloss finish is a close match to the porcelain enamel used on the original signs. And just like the original, it will serve you well for years to come, whether you install it indoors or outdoors. Mounting holes are included for convenient installation. It is available in the following sizes:
- 18 in. × 8 in.
- 27 in. × 12 in.
- 36 in. × 16 in. (the size of the original signs)
