Description
Mexico’s Highway 1 is also known as the Carretera Transpeninsular. This highway stretches the entire length of the Baja California peninsula, from Cabo San Lucas at its southern tip, all the way up to the US border at Tijuana. In Cabo, there is (sometimes) a sign listing the distance to the other end of the highway, 1,623 km (1,008 mi) away. A copy of this sign will pop up every so often, whenever the Mexican highway authorities get the urge to install a sign to awe the tourists—and then the tourists go ahead and steal it. (Tijuana likewise sometimes has a sign listing 1,623 km to Cabo San Lucas.)
Our Tijuana 1623 km sign is made to the exact standards as used between 1986 and the present day along Mexican federal highways. Our signs are just like the ones you may or may not see in Cabo San Lucas. The layout, fonts, and shield design are all just like the original. With our replica, you can have a copy of this famous sign, but without the chance of an awkward run-in with los federales!
Our Tijuana 1623 km sign is flat printed on heavy 14-gauge steel. It has a high-gloss, non-reflective coating that looks great indoors or outdoors. It’s also durable enough to withstand years in the hot Mexican sun. We’ve made it available in two sizes—the original 1200 mm × 200 mm size (roughly equivalent to 47.244 in. × 7.874 in.), and a scaled-down 30 in. × 5 in. version. Both versions include convenient mounting holes for easy installation.
We can customize this sign any way you like! Change out the route number, the city name, and the distance. Or all three! We can also make you just about any road sign from just about anywhere in the world. We love custom orders, so don’t hesitate to reach out! Just contact Jake to get started!
