Horse and buggy warning sign

Description

In certain parts of the United States, the traditional horse and buggy is still in day-to-day use. They are primarily used by the Amish, whose religious beliefs do not allow the use of modern technologies like automobiles. However, buggies and other horse-drawn vehicles often still use the same roads as motorized vehicles. The massive speed differential between a horse and a car means that the risk of collision is high. The occupants of the buggy typically do not fare well in such an accident. In order to warn road users when horse and buggy traffic may exist, the Manual on Uniform Control Devices (MUTCD) states “Vehicular Traffic Warning signs may be used to alert road users to locations where unexpected entries into the roadway by … horse-drawn vehicles … might occur.” The horse and buggy warning is carried in the manual as sign number W11-14.

Our replica horse and buggy warning sign is made using the actual graphics and dimensions specified for sign W11-14 by the 2009 MUTCD. Please note, however, that this is a non-reflective replica for display purposes only. It does not meet the reflectivity standards required of genuine traffic control devices. Happily, though, this makes it a much more attractive indoor display piece. It makes a perfect addition to your garage, man cave, bar, office, or any other space needing a touch of down-home rural charm.

Our horse and buggy warning sign is flat printed on heavy 14-gauge steel. The glossy finish is durable enough to withstand the outdoor elements for years to come.
