King’s Highway 17 is the longest highway in the province of Ontario. At its greatest extent, it crossed the entire province, from Manitoba to Québec. It was the only major highway to span the whole province like this. Over the years, portions of the road have been replaced by freeways like Highway 417, but it remains a critical part of Canada’s national highway system, being the only major highway linking eastern and western Canada. As a result, much of Highway 17 carries the Trans-Canada Highway as well.

Our replica of the King’s Highway 17 sign is made to the exact 1933 provincial standard that was used until the mid-1950s, when reflective signage began to take over. Every aspect of the sign is just like the original, from the unique fonts used to the layout to the details of the King’s crown. They are only found circulating on the collector’s market. But you’ll have to spend quite a handsome sum to get one from there. Our King’s Highway 17 sign is flat printed on heavy 14-gauge steel. It has a glossy, non-reflective coating, for an appearance that is nearly indistinguishable from the old porcelain signs that were originally used back in the day. They’re just as weatherproof as the original, too, able to withstand the elements of a harsh Canadian winter. We offer this sign in a number of sizes to meet your display needs. Choose from sizes between 9 in. × 14¼ in. and 24 in. × 38 in. All sizes include two mounting holes for your convenience.
