Description

Highway 3 is the Crowsnest Highway, a major east-west crossing of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta and British Columbia. This highway, which runs parallel to and just north of the US border, is a critical link in Canada’s highway system. The Crowsnest Highway is the shortest route from the heavily-populated Lower Mainland region of British Columbia to Alberta and points further east. The highway crosses the Continental Divide, the provincial boundary, at the Crowsnest Pass, an elevation of 4,455 feet (1,358 meters). From there, it continues onward in Alberta to Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.  In both provinces, the highway is signed with a special marker with the number 3 inside a silhouette of a crow in its nest.

Our replica British Columbia Crowsnest Highway route marker is made to the exact early 1960s standard, when the road was first signed with the crow graphic. Every detail has been painstakingly recreated from the original, including the shape of the blank and the crow outline. Even the number “3” and “B.C.” text has been drawn to look just like the handpainted text commonly seen on signs of the era! You won’t find a more accurate replica for sale anywhere else. And it’s priced much lower than what you’d pay for an original on the collector’s market, too!

Our British Columbia Crowsnest Highway is printed on heavy 14-gauge steel. It has a non-reflective, glossy finish that ensures it will even stand up to the harsh winters of the Canadian mountains. Take your pick of two historically-accurate sizes, the 14 in. × 16¼ size used in 1961, or the larger one introduced in 1979 that is 51 cm × 60 cm, or about 20 in. by 23⅝ in. We also offer a scaled-down 11.2 in. × 13 in. version for those wanting a smaller display piece. All three sizes include two pre-drilled holes for easy installation.

Would you like a sign like this for another route in British Columbia? Or perhaps one in a newer or older style? Maybe you have a project that requires a marker in a size that doesn’t appear here. Or you’re looking for signage from another province or U.S. state. We can help with all of those—let’s talk! Just contact Jake to get started on your custom order.
