California (CSAA) Eureka, Crescent City, Fortuna directional sign

Just after the turn of the 20th century, before the California state government was in the business of making highway signs, that was the job of private auto clubs like the California State Automobile Association. CSAA signage guided drivers from Northern California to central Kansas. In the late 1910s and early 1920s, the club’s signage was rhombus-shaped, and used California’s state colors of blue and gold. In the bottom corner of the sign was the CSAA logo, with the association name spelled out in the left and right corners.

Our Eureka, Crescent City, and Fortuna directional sign is a museum-quality reproduction of an original sign (see the attached photo) which once stood in Humboldt County, between Eureka and Fortuna. This piece is crafted to closely match the look and feel of the signs found along the highways of Northern California a century ago. Who knows whether the original sign still survives? In the unlikely event it does, it would no doubt command a hefty premium on the collector’s market. With our replica, you can avoid paying a small fortune and/or the need for a time machine.
