Description

The Indiana East-West Toll Road first opened in 1956. It was among the first high-speed roads in the United States. Tolls were a common way to finance these highway improvements, and the Indiana Toll Road was part of a network of turnpikes stretching from New York City through New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ohio and into Illinois.  The Indiana Toll Road runs across far northern Indiana, connecting Toledo and Chicago, and was the primary way between Chicago and Detroit before Interstate 94 was built. There were also plans for a companion Indiana North-South Toll Road, but the passage of the Interstate Highway Act made tolling this road unnecessary, and it became part of Interstate 65.

Bring a piece of highway history into your collection with this premium Indiana Toll Road route sign. It replicates the classic design used from the Toll Road’s opening in the 1950s through today. This version, including a directional arrow, was originally placed on side streets to guide drivers toward the Indiana Toll Road. (Prefer a different arrow direction or no arrow at all? Simply note your preference in the Notes box at checkout and we’ll customize it for you.)

Original, retired Indiana Toll Road signs are nearly impossible to find at a reasonable price, as most remain in active service. This professionally-crafted reproduction gives you the chance to own an accurate display piece without the worry of tracking one down. Add authentic highway style to your garage, office, man cave, or collection—order yours today!

Each sign is flat-printed on heavy-gauge American steel, with precision-accurate fonts and layout. This is a high-quality, American-made steel sign, built to outlast cheap tin imitations which cut corners on design and materials. Our craftsmanship ensures a piece that stands up to close inspection—even seasoned collectors will admire the accuracy and detail. Don’t settle for less when you can own the best representation of the Indiana Toll Road sign available!

Our Indiana Toll Road sign is non-reflective, with a high-gloss, protective finish making it ideal for display either indoors or outdoors. It includes pre-drilled mounting holes to make installation easy. Choose from the three sizes specified in the original 1955 Indiana Toll Road signage manual—16, 24, or 36 inches in diameter—or our special scaled-down 12-inch version. (Need a custom size? Just ask—we’re happy to create exactly what you need!)
