Description

US Route 52 is a diagonal highway, running for just over 2,000 miles from the Canadian border with North Dakota, southeast to Charleston, South Carolina. Roughly 200 miles of the route cross Indiana. US 52 enters the state from Illinois near Kentland, and proceeds southeast from there to Lafayette. Between Lafayette and Indianapolis, the route runs parallel to or concurrent with Interstate 65. It overlaps the entirety of I-865, then uses the north and east sides of the I-465 beltway to bypass Indianapolis. East of Indianapolis, US 52 serves as a northerly alternate route to I-74. Just before leaving the state, it merges onto I-74, then crosses into Ohio north of Harrison, OH, en route to Cincinnati.
