Los Angeles Woodman Avenue street sign

Description

Woodman Avenue is a major north-south street in Los Angeles’s San Fernando Valley. It begins in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains at Valley Vista Boulevard. From there, it heads north, crossing most of the valley. Just south of the 118 freeway, it curves to the northwest, becoming Fox Street in the San Fernando grid.

This Woodman Avenue street sign is made in the classic “shotgun” style installed by the City of Los Angeles from 1946 to 1967. These classic blue signs have the name “Woodman Avenue” in large, squared-off lettering. The block number, 5000 North, is displayed underneath. This is the intersection with Addison Street, in Sherman Oaks. The unique “shotgun” shape is formed by the sign panel being cut to the shape of the longer street name and the shorter block number.

Our Woodman Avenue shotgun street sign is printed on heavy 14-gauge steel. The glossy, non-reflective finish is a very close match to the porcelain enamel used on the original signs. It’s also durable enough to be installed indoors or out. Pre-drilled holes are included to make installation easy. We make this sign in two sizes:

  • 21 in. × 7 in. (scaled down)
  • 30 in. × 10 in. size (the size of the original signs as posted in Los Angeles)

This sign can be made with either a one-sided print (pointing either left or right), or a two-sided print.

We can make a sign like this for any street and block number in Los Angeles! Not from L.A.? We can make a street sign from your city, too! Placing a custom order is easy—just contact Jake to get started!
