Description

US Route 1 is the eastern seaboard’s longest highway. It covers over 1,700 miles (2,700 km) between Fort Kent, Maine and Key West, Florida. The Maine segment starts almost at the top of the world at Fort Kent. From there, it heads due south to the Canadian border crossing points of Houlton and Calais. Then it follows the Atlantic Ocean coastline through Portland to Kittery. Finally, it passes into New Hampshire at Portsmouth. Altogether it spends a hair over 526 miles (846 km) in the Pine Tree State.

Our Maine US Route 1 shield is made to the exact 1961 standard used between then and the early 1970s along this famous road. This sign is flat printed on heavy steel with a completely accurate layout, and uses the LeHay font found on vintage Maine signage. It is a high-quality, heavy steel, non-reflective sign.

An original Maine US Route 1 marker would cost many hundreds of dollars if it ever came to the market. Order our recreation of this classic sign, and you can own an excellent display piece, for just a fraction of the price. Even Maine highway experts will be unable to tell the difference!
