Description
Federal Highway 1 runs along Mexico’s west coast, all the way down the Baja California peninsula. It starts at the US border in Tijuana and ends up all the way in Cabo San Lucas. It extends for over 1200 miles through two states: Baja California, and Baja California Sur. The route was built in the 1930s, numbered to highway 1 in the Great Renumbering of 1945, and paved completely by 1973.
These days, federal route markers only appear as part of larger signs, such as green directional signs and kilometer posts. Our Mexico Federal Highway 1 sign is a throwback to the days when Mexico still used standalone route shields. It is made to the exact federal standards used between 1966 and 1986. While signs like this do circulate on the collector’s market, most of the ones Jake’s seen are very weathered, and still command a premium of many hundreds of dollars. With our faithful replica, you’ll both save money and get a home decor piece you’ll be proud to show off.
Our Mexico Federal Highway 1 sign is printed on heavy 14-gauge steel. It has a high-gloss, non-reflective coating capable of protecting it from the elements when installed outdoors. The sign includes pre-drilled mounting holes to make installation easy. Choose from the following sizes:
- 247.5 mm × 330 mm (≈ 9.7 in. × 13 in.)
- 300 mm × 400 mm (≈ 11.8 in. × 15.7 in.)
- 450 mm × 600 mm (≈ 17.7 in. × 23.6 in.)
