Description
Lake Champlain is a freshwater lake straddling the border of New York and Vermont (with a small portion extending into Québec as well). It is over 100 miles (160 km) from north to south, making it a rather large obstacle for overland travel, taking several hours to detour around. That makes it a natural candidate to be spanned by a highway bridge. The first bridge over the lake, linking State Route 185 in Crown Point, New York with Route 17 at Chimney Point in Addison, Vermont, was opened to traffic in 1929. The bridge, clocking in at a length of 2184 feet (666 m), was one of the first continuous-truss bridges in the United States. This bridge lasted until 2009, by which time it had deteriorated to the point that officials feared it might suddenly collapse. It was demolished in December 2009, with a replacement opening in November 2011.
Bring a piece of transportation history home with this Lake Champlain Bridge sign, faithfully recreated to match the 1929 design that guided travelers crossing over Lake Champlain between New York and Vermont. Featuring the distinctive black-and-orange color scheme and a stylized image of the bridge, this striking sign captures the look of the originals which once directed motorists to the span. We’ve crafted our Lake Champlain Bridge sign with precise layouts, period-correct fonts, and durable heavy-gauge steel construction. The result is a premium sign which closely replicates the appearance of the historic signs used throughout the area decades ago.
Why settle for inferior reproductions? Many lower-priced signs use thin materials, incorrect dimensions, inaccurate fonts, and poor layouts. Our signs deliver exceptional durability and attention to detail, creating a display piece that collectors, history enthusiasts, and vintage sign fans will proudly showcase. Order your Lake Champlain Bridge sign today and add a timeless piece of roadside history to your collection.
