US Route 20 is America’s longest numbered highway, and its westernmost 450 miles or so is in Oregon. Eastbound US 20 begins in Newport, at an intersection with US 101. From there, the road runs across central Oregon, passing through Corvallis and Bend. It crosses the Cascades over Tombstone Pass, at an elevation of 4,236 feet (1,291 m), and Santiam Pass, elevation 4,817 feet (1,468 m). US 20 continues through sparsely-populated Harney and Malheur counties before entering into Idaho, en route to Boise.
