The United States Forest Service maintains fire towers at strategic locations to allow rangers to periodically observe the area for signs of a forest fire. The towers, however, are normally unoccupied, which can make them an attractive feature for forest visitors. The sign warns would-be tower climbers that while it doing so is not strictly forbidden (most of the towers are so remote that enforcing such a rule would be impossible), it is not the Forest Service’s problem should someone fall, even if the tower fails due to too many people climbing it at once.

Its yellow high-gloss non-retroreflective is highly reminiscent of the old-school porcelain signs often found in the most remote national forests.  It’s rugged enough to be displayed outdoors, just like the original signs.
