Description

Secondary State Highway 3R was a designation used as part of Washington’s original state route system. The highway was established in 1953, and served as a spur from US 410 and SR 3 (which both ran along the south side of the Yakima River) to Richland. This original section of SSH 3R was Richland’s first connection to the state highway system, and followed what is today SR 240. In 1955, the highway was extended west to Kiona along present-day SR 224. In 1964, Washington reorganized its highway system to abolish the primary–secondary distinction. The highways received their current numbers at that time, and SSR 3R was no more.

Our Secondary State Highway 3R route marker sign is made in the last style used before the highway was renumbered. It is very similar to the modern route marker; the only differences are the white border along the edge and the more detailed silhouette of George Washington. This excellent piece of history is a great way to show your love for Washington’s Tri-Cities region!

Our Secondary State Highway 3R sign is printed on heavy duty 14-gauge steel. Its glossy coating protects it from the elements to allow it to be installed indoors or outdoors. It’s non-reflective, too, allowing it to blend well with any room’s decor. To make it easier to install, we’ve included pre-drilled mounting holes. Choose from the following sizes:

  • 12 in. × 12 in.
  • 16 in. × 16 in.
  • 24 in. × 24 in. (the actual size of markers used by the state of Washington in the present day)
  • 36 in. × 36 in.
