Candlestick Park was a historic pro sports stadium in San Francisco, California. Named after the “candlestick birds” that lived in the area, it served as the home of the San Francisco Giants baseball team from 1960 to 1999, as well as the San Francisco 49ers football team from 1971 to 2013. The stadium was infamous for sudden weather changes due to its location near both the Bay and the Pacific Ocean, with players and fans often having to suffer through windy and chilly conditions. One notable example is the 1989 World Series game interrupted by the Loma Prieta earthquake. “The Catch” by Joe Montana and Dwight Clark, among the greatest plays in NFL history, also happened at Candlestick Park. The stadium was officially closed in 2014 and demolished in 2015, marking the end of an era for San Francisco sports.

Our Exit 429A, Candlestick Park exit sign is a precise replica of the sign that stands at the exit from US Route 101 leading to the stadium. It follows the standards used by the state of California in 2006, the last time the sign was replaced before Candlestick’s demolition.
