Interstate 40 is one of the United States’ many (almost) coast-to-coast Interstates, spanning from Barstow, California to Wilmington, North Carolina. I-40 is the modern replacement for the celebrated US Route 66 in Arizona (as it is for all of the route between Barstow and Oklahoma City). It runs straight across northern Arizona, crossing the Colorado River south of Kingman, then proceeding through Seligman and Williams to Flagstaff (where it is the northern terminus of Interstate 17). It then serves Winslow and Holbrook in eastern Arizona, before crossing into New Mexico west of Gallup.
