State Route 36 is a highway that runs east-west across northern California. It begins at US 101 near Fortuna, running to Red Bluff, where it crosses Interstate 5. From there it continues east to Lake Almanor and the town of Chester. East of Chester, the highway is part of the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway. State Route 36 then serves the city of Susanville, and ends at US 395 east of town.
