El Salvador San Salvador, Santa Ana, Sonsonate directional sign

Description

This El Salvador directional sign is based on signage located at a traffic circle on Central American Highway 1 just outside of Santa Ana. It points the way to three major cities: San Salvador, the country’s capital and largest city, Santa Ana, its third-largest city, and Sonsonate, its tenth-largest city. Like many signs in El Salvador, it’s made to the 2014 standards published by Mexico’s Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes (SCT) in its Manual de Señalización Vial y Dispositivos de Seguridad (Manual on Road Signs and Safety Devices). For added authenticity, we’ve even used the SCT fonts, which are very similar to the American FHWA Series fonts, but with some subtle differences.

Our San Salvador, Santa Ana, Sonsonate directional sign is printed on heavy 14-gauge steel in the United States. It’s an ideal home decor item thanks to its high gloss, non-retroreflective finish. That finish also protects the sign from the elements, even in a tropical climate like El Salvador. Mounting holes are included to make installation easy. The original sign would be 366 cm wide (about twelve feet), so we’ve scaled our replica down to the following more manageable sizes:

  • 14 in. × 7 in.
  • 16 in. × 8 in.
  • 24 in. × 12 in.
  • 36 in. × 18 in.
  • 48 in. × 24 in.
  • 72 in. × 36 in. (this one’s so big it will be split across two panels, for easier shipping and installation)
