Description
Interstate 69 is one of the original routes of the Interstate System. Numbered that because it lies between interstates 65 and 71, the route originally connected Indianapolis to Fort Wayne, and on to the Canadian border at Port Huron, Michigan. As the importance of international shipping increased toward the end of the 20th century, the idea was devised to expand Interstate 69 into a border-to-border route. This worked out quite well for Indiana, which was able to use the highway’s extension to connect Evansville to the rest of the state by freeway.
Our Indiana Interstate 69 highway sign is a precise replica of those originally posted along the highway when it was first built. It follows the exact 1957 specifications for Interstate highway signs, complete with the smaller digits and inclusion of the state name above the route number. (They literally don’t make them like this anymore—modern signs often omit the state name and make the numbers bigger, sacrificing aesthetics in favor of legibility.) It’s a nice way to commemorate your travels through the state of Indiana!
Our Indiana Interstate 69 sign is flat printed in the United States on heavy 14-gauge American steel. It is non-reflective, with a high gloss finish making it an ideal home decor item. It also protects it against the elements, so it will serve well for years to come when installed outdoors. Mounting holes are included for ease of installation. Take your pick from the following sizes:
- 12 in. × 12 in.
- 18 in. × 18 in.
- 24 in. × 24 in.
- 36 in. × 36 in.
