The Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail is a scenic route across northern Ohio. It begins in Toledo in the west and runs to Conneaut in the east, a total of 293 miles (458 km). It differs from the Lake Erie Circle Tour in that the Circle Tour only follows numbered highways, while the Coastal Ohio Trail often veers off onto Ohio’s back roads.

Along the trail, travelers can take in scenic shoreline views of Lake Erie, and indulge in the many recreational activities the lake has to offer, such as its beaches, marinas, and fishing spots. However, the route is not just about the lake itself. historic and cultural sites, museums, wineries, and even amusement parks. The Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail has so much to offer that the Federal Highway Administration designated it a National Scenic Byway. Only 184 roads in the United States, and only four in Ohio, are so designated.
