US Route 25 now ends in Covington, Kentucky, but at one point it made it all the way to Port Austin, Michigan. The route crossed into Michigan just north of Toledo and hugged the state’s eastern border with Canada for its entire route. After passing through Monroe and Flat Rock as Dixie Highway, Telegraph Road, and Dix-Toledo Highway, it served downtown Detroit via Fort Street. From there, it headed northeast on Gratiot Avenue to Port Huron. It then followed the shore of Lake Huron all the way to the tip of Michigan’s Thumb, where it ended at Port Austin. US 25 was removed from Michigan in 1973. The route of US 25 is now followed by several different highways, including M-125, US 24, I-75, M-85, M-3, I-94, M-19, M-29, and M-25.
